Ridgway Rendezvous
Ridgway Rendezvous

A note from Liz - 19 Jan, 2006

January 19?!?!?!? It seems like just yesterday we were recovering from the LAST Rendezvous, now the next one is upon us already.

As you can imagine, things here are absolutely frantic as we put the finishing touches on all our plans. For those of you who have been before, you'll already know we're always pushing the boundaries to make each year's event bigger and better than the last. This year, our event has definitely evolved into something really special.

Here's a few highlights:

We'll be having at least one very special guest this year... wait for it, none other than Punxsutawney Phil! That's right, fresh from his Prognostication at Gobbler's Knob, Phil will be paying us all a visit which should be a lot of fun!

You may have already noticed there'll also be a special edition Straub beer made specially for the Rendezvous this year. These are strictly limited so make sure you get in quick! Part proceeds of every carton sold go to the Rendezvous' nominated charities, so be sure and drink up while you're in town.

Speaking of charity, let's not forget that while the Rendezvous is an awful lot of fun for carvers and everyone who comes along, one of our main aims was also to help raise money for some very worthy causes. As you can imagine, as an international event the logistics of putting the Rendezvous on are quite complex and require a lot of resources. While we have some awesome carvings to auction off courtesy of our carvers and some amazing sponsors to thank for their contributions, we'd like to be able to donate a little more to charity this year. So this year there'll be a nominal gate fee of just $3 to get in on the final weekend. A Saturday ticket will also get you in on Sunday, so that's more like $1.50 a day... not much to ask when you consider the international talent on display. And remember, profits go to some truly great causes!

And finally, if you're lucky enough to purchase a sensational carving at the Rendezvous, make sure you get it branded with an authentic Rendezvous stamp for a few dollars more - again, ALL net proceeds go directly to charity.

Well, that's it from me for the moment... It's not long now so stay safe and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Liz
